Baiba Jensen gets inspiration for her artwork from natural elements. The beauty of organic things, especially vibrant colors and textures in nature, provide the subjects she paints. Many of her artworks are on Yupo paper providing her a surface to flow color and add texture into organic representational art. She is an experimental artist who enjoys trying different techniques using acrylics and watercolors on various surfaces. She hopes her artwork inspires an appreciation for the beauty around us.
Although her formal degrees were in education, upon retirement she has taken a number of classes from well- known artists. She is learning new things all the time and welcomes the challenges! She has exhibited in local juried and non juried exhibits and is a member of the Brighton Art Guild and Ann Arbor Women Artists .
She has two sons who are Albion grads and a husband who retired from Plymouth Canton schools.
Baiba also has a hand painted vintage furniture shop online where she creatively repurposes vintage furniture (www.etsy.com/shop/overboardstudio ). In the future she hopes to continue creating art and exploring its endless possibilities.
