Joan Painter-Jones

Born, 1940, Ypsilanti, MI. Education, BAE at Eastern
Michigan University, Postgrad, EMU, in watercolor.
Jones has shown in many juried competitions in
Michigan since 1978, including the Anton Art Center
in Mt. Clemens, the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center
in Birmingham, the Scarab Club in Detroit,
as well as in New Jersey, New York, Chicago,
Illinois, Arizona, Connecticut, and Texas.

Jones has received many awards,including the
Merit Award for 3-D in the Dow Midland Center
for the Arts Exhibition in 2010, and a Best in Show
at the Ann Arbor Art Center All Media Annual
competition in 2011. She has also received
a merit award in Mesa, Arizona, and a purchase
award in Del Mar College in Texas.

Her work is in collections in U of M hospital,
and the St. Joseph Hospital Child Care
Center, both in Ann Arbor, Jesse Besser Museum in
Alpena, Michigan, Monroe Community College
and in Saginaw Valley State University, both in
Michigan. There are also photos of her work
published in The Best of Acrylic Painting and
Creative Inspirations, both by Rockport Publishers,
and in In Drought Time, published by Mayapple
Press and in "Third Wednesday", published
by Gravity Presses.
