Artist Profile

Sibel Ozer

Mediums: Painting, Mixed Media/Collage, Mixed Media Paintings, Assemblage, Acrylic

Born and raised in Turkey, Sibel worked as a clinical psychologist with trauma survivors before she became an art therapist in the US. She went to Naropa University in Boulder where meditation is part of the transpersonal psychology program. She teaches mindfulness through art-making to help distinguish between real and unnecessary suffering, and to diminish the hold of the mind and the inner critic to support a more balanced life.

Sibel has a private practice at The Parkway Center specializing in grief, loss, and trauma, and offers art therapy workshops on various topics such as process painting, creative arts to cope with grief and loss, altered book making and visual journaling, as well as identity explorations for teenagers.

Her art is a part of Sibel's own self-expression, and supports her work as an art therapist. Her love of nature and horses is expressed through the use of natural elements such as wood, branches, leaves and recycled mixed media materials. She is particularly interested in the exploration of the relationship between art making and our internal worlds. She teaches art therapy seminars nationally and in her hometown of Turkey.
