Susan Clinthorne

Mediums: Watercolor, Pastel, Mixed Media/Collage, Assemblage, Acrylic

The artworks of Susan Clinthorne are born of a passion for color and honed by her travels and intercultural experiences. She has explored every aspect of watercolor, such as wet-in-wet, realism, abstraction and experimental techniques. Along with a concentration in watercolor, Susan is also immersed in other painterly mediums such as soft pastels and acrylics.

Susan, along with Sally Thielen, has created a traveling, multi-media social art installation regarding homelessness.

Susan earned a BFA from Eastern Michigan University. Currently she teaches art in the community and abroad. She also enjoys sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm for art as a docent at the University of Michigan Museum of Art. Susan is a member of Ann Arbor Women Artists, Ann Arbor Area Pastelists, and Great Lakes Pastel Society and has been involved in numerous exhibitions.
