Artist Profile

Toni Stevenson

Mediums: Pastel, Oil, Acrylic

Toni's desire to become an accomplished artist began in her childhood. She has focused on advancing her art education throughout her life. Favorite artists such as Degas, Whistler and Velazquez were her inspiration as she dreamed of aspiring to their mastery of capturing color, light and mood. She spent several years studying figure drawing and painting at Macomb Community College and the Birmingham-Bloomfield Art Center in Michigan.

Working in a realistic manner, Toni strives to portray her personal response to the subject she paints with her own unique artistic expression. Her desire is to compose a painting evoking a memory or recollection of someone or someplace in time.

Using a variety of media to suit the subject (pastel for outdoor painting; watercolor, oil and acrylic for figure and still life) gives the results she is seeking. She finds change in medium and subject matter adds energy and excitement to her paintings.
