Matthaei Demo 2012

Monday, February 11, 10:00 AM

Plein Air artists are welcome to paint or sketch in the beautiful and colorful Conservatory at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens. At 10:15 AM Sandra Difazio will conduct an oil demonstration and address some of the obstacles and challenges of plein air painting that apply to any medium. The demo will take place in the middle part of the Conservatory on top of the bridge area. Artists may spread out and work wherever they want. At 3:00 PM artists may gather back on the bridge for an informal group critique. This is a joint painting meet with members of the Great Lakes Plein Air Painters Association.

Jan at Centennial Farm

Jan at Centennial Farm

On Monday, September 24  we added an extra painting meet to the plein air schedule. By special invitation artists had a unique opportunity to paint, sketch and photograph the original barns, antique farm equipment, home and fields that have been in the Alexander family for over a hundred years. One of the crops they raise is gourmet popcorn. The painting meet was well attended and we were blessed with blue skies and fair weather.
